History

In a 1927 letter, YMCA President Gerald W. Birks explains the Montreal YMCA's major 1925 Montreal population study: The Study consisted of a comprehensive survey of Greater Montreal, conducted under the direction of R. E. G. Davis. It clarified the need for a fund-raising campaign that took place in 1928 and funded renovation of the Downtown Branch building on Drummond Street, enlargement of facilities for Sir George Williams College, erection of the Stanley Street YMCA building, and new YMCA buildings in Verdun and NDG.
