J. -Henri Blanchard fonds

  • CA PCA Acc2330
  • Fonds
  • 1870-1968

This fonds consists of manuscript, typescript, and printed materials, in French and English, either created, received, or collected by Dr. J.-Henri Blanchard, including his writings and speeches, correspondence (almost exclusively incoming), research notes and documents in history and genealogy; agendas, minutes and other records of Acadian and generally francophone cultural organizations; maps, photographs, and printed materials. The arrangement into 9 lettered and titled series is based on a scheme inferred to be that of Dr. Blanchard, which comprised eleven untitled subdivisions lettered A to K; the letter designations appear to have had mnemonic significance in French. (The present arrangement combines in one series groups I, J, and K, all containing printed/published materials collected by Dr. Blanchard and without apparent distinctions between them.) The 9 series are: A: Articles/coupures = Articles/clippings, B: Biographie/généalogie = Biography/genealogy, C: Correspondance = Correspondence, D: Documents/données = Documents/data, E: Église = Church, F: Francophonie/ formation = Francophone education/culture, G: Géographie/cartes = Geography/maps, H: Photographies Photographs, and I: Imprimés = Printed materials.
