The fonds contains business correspondence between the Halifax Seed Company and their associates worldwide as well as two ledger books. Advertisements and printed matter originally enclosed with correspondence provide an insight into the 1960s relevant beyond their connection to the Halifax Seed Company.
The company has been in operation for 137 years, yet the collection lacks information before 1956 and after 1965.

Fonds contains a ledger from Vernon Simpon's general store in Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The ledger book contains entries from 1929-1930. It was also used as a notebook, with miscellaneous notes entered until 1976. Fonds also contains a letter to Mrs. Vernon Simpson (Olive Eliza Simpson) from Robert H. Winters, Ottawa, November 30, 1953. The letter is a reply to Mrs. Simpson's letter about changes to mail delievery in Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The file with the letter also contains an order form from Veribest Speciality Company and two copies of handwritten minutes of a Community Club meeting held on November 15, 1951.
Fonds contains business records and personal correspondence of H.L. Ruggles. Financial records primarily relate to Ruggles' wholesale grocery business, but some materials relate to the settlement of his mother's estate. Personal correspondence involves the settlement of his mother's estate.
