This fonds consists of a volume containing household accounts as well as accounts with various individuals. In the latter case indication is rarely given as to the reason for the amount listed. The volume also contains a brief diary (Jan-April 1914) kept by Harriet Dickieson in which she notes her daily activities such as cleaning, sewing, making butter and soap as well as visits to and from neighbours, activities of her children, church and community happenings. a few pages include "New Glasgow notes".

This fonds consists of a number of accounting records for Austin Scales' farming operations and his various other businesses, including Scales Hydro Electric Company Limited, Associated Shippers Incorporated, Island Foods Incorporated and Island Fertilizers Limited. There are twelve home accounting journals (1914-1937, 1940-1987) where transactions are recorded as they occur. There are also eleven home cash books (1919-1938, 1941-1989), recording all payments and receipts of business transactions. There are three home ledgers and one partial ledger (1914-1989), posting and classifying transactions. The fonds includes four books of potato car records (1926-1946) detailing to/from whom the load of potatoes was bought/sold. A journal, cash book and ledgers for Scales Hydro Electric Company Limited span 1937-1967. Island Fertilizers Limited shareholders / journals/ ledgers cover 1933 through 1941. There are annual statements for Associated Shippers Incorporated (1931-1944, 1946-1949), Island Fertilizers Limited (1945-1949) and Island Foods Incorporated (1943, 1947-1951). The fonds also includes a copy of the "Journal of the House of Assembly of Prince Edward Island" for 1845.

This collection consists of a videotape containing film sequences of country and family life in Bay Fortune in 1933/34. Much of the film is shot on the farm with many scenes of a typical farmyard, often with family members, neighbours, farm animals and equipment. Sequences include those of the farmer at work with his binder in the fields as well as scenic shots river, fields and woods. Evocative pictures of a family day at the shore and scenes of teacher and children in the school yard and on a picnic add a further dimension to the film.

The fonds consists of receipts to James MacDonald from the agents of James F. MacDonald for rent payments (1856-1863), two letters from Robert Ogilvie in St. John, New Brunswick, to James MacDonald (1853) reporting hard times and asking for assistance, and one letter from Mrs. MacDonald (1818) to relatives in Scotland describing their crops and stock, her household activities, the severity of winter and the prices of various commodities.

Ledger of Roderick Munn : [1876-1912]

This fonds consists of a ledger which might more correctly be called an account book and diary. It documents Munn's accounts with various persons and firms in both the Wood Islands and Marshfield areas including the Dunstaffnage Cheese and Butter Company. The remainder of the volume is really a yearly calendar of his farming activities; when plowing and planting took place, what varieties of seed he used, in what quantities, yield and disposal of crops. Loose papers include pages supplementing accounts for estates for which Munn served as executor, i.e. Elizabeth Goff, Hector Munn, Stephen Mills, and William Bell, byelaws of the Central Mutual Fire Insurance Co., and a draft address to [Donald Montgomery?] on the occasion of his departure for the Canadian Senate by the residents of French Fort, Dunstaffnage, Suffolk, Marshfield, Little York, etc. in recognition of his efforts in procuring the right for them to purchase their lands.

Mayfield Hall fonds

The fonds consists of a ledger which contains minutes (1902-1958) and accounts (1900-1958) of the Mayfield Hall Company. The minutes are primarily of annual meetings and include lists of shareholders and names of directors. The ledger also contains a few loose items, including an Assessment Roll of the Mayfield School District for the year ending 1948, Xavier Doiron's share certificate dated 9 May 1949, and the hall's fire insurance policy dated 27 January 1934. The fonds also contains a Cattle Act meeting book (1901-1922) from the Mayfield area which includes the names of Reeves appointed to enforce rules regarding domestic animals in the area. The fonds also includes a brief undated history of the Mayfield Hall and Cattle Act meetings written by Shirley Andrews.

The majority of the fonds consists of correspondence between MacRae family members. A significant portion of the fonds also contains many photographs, certificates, and newspaper clippings of Frederick's military career at the Machine Gun School in Shorncliffe, England, and his promotion to the rank of Major in the 82nd regiment. There are also genealogical notes and history of the Pownal area such as copies of the Pownal Argus, a handwritten community newsletter (1885) and Muster Rolls for the Queen's County Regiment R.M. for Pownal from 1868-1871. The fonds also consists of Alexander MacRae's account books listing the income and expenditures of his apple and potato crop from 1889-1892.

[Robert Jenkins ?] daybook

This daybook is believed to have belonged to Robert Jenkins of Belfast, Prince Edward Island and contains details of monies owed and collected for farm-related supplies and services, including buying and selling foxes, and some muskrat and beaver. The daybook mentions the names and reasons for any business dealings (1913-1918). The daybook includes two letters from the Attorney General (1902, 1903) appointing, and then extending the appointment of, Robert Jenkins as prosecutor for the enforcement of the Prohibition Act of 1900. A handwritten copy of the letter (1902) written by Mr. Jenkins, accepting the appointment, is also included. Newspaper clippings (1903, 1906) are pasted inside the front cover and back pages. Many of the newspaper clipping discuss prohibition, temperance, and Mr. Jenkins's appointment as prosecutor.

The fonds consists of a mixture of the personal and public papers of the late Premier, Walter R. Shaw. Original order as evidenced by file folder titles was maintained; where papers were loose or otherwise unidentifiable as to source, an attempt has been made to fit them into the existing arrangement or to create new titles. The following nine series, arranged chronologically by W.R. Shaw's personal and public activities and by media have emerged: personal papers; civil service career; Premier's papers, Leader of the Opposition files; Legislative Assembly records; desk diaries; Sound recordings; photographic materials; and scrapbooks.
