Alberni District Historical Society Archives
The Alberni District Historical Society was established in 1965 and operates its Archives at the Alberni Valley Museum in Port Alberni. The Archives collects, preserves and makes accessible archival records and historical reference material (including newspapers) relating to communities in the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District, including Port Alberni, Beaver Creek, Cherry Creek, Sproat Lake, Bamfield, Tofino, and Ucluelet.
The mandate of the society is to encourage the preservation of archival material relating to the past and present history of the Alberni District. Major holdings include the McLean Mill National Historic Site business records,;MacMillan Bloedel Ltd. business records, Alberni Plywoods - Port Alberni Sawmills records, newspapers 1907-1967 and subsequent years of microfilm, local map collection, and community records.
