Julien-Édouard-Alfred Dubuc est né le 21 janvier 1871, à Saint-Hughes, dans le comté de Bagot. Arrivé à Chicoutimi en 1892 comme gérant de la Banque nationale, il se fait une place importante dans le monde industriel régional, et même national. Propriétaire de la Compagnie de pulpe de Chicoutimi, il étend son empire jusqu'à posséder 60 sociétés diverses. Élu maire de la ville de Chicoutimi en 1930, il occupe, à compter de 1925, et jusqu'à 1945, le poste de député fédéral pour le comté. Décédé en 1947, son nom demeure toujours associé à la géographie et au patrimoine industriel régional
