Biographical history

Harold Alexander "Alex" Price, 1921-2015, was born and educated in Vancouver, British Columbia. He began working for the B.C. Electric Railway Company in 1940 but soon joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). After the Second World War he received an engineering degree from the University of British Columbia and joined the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), where he worked for 33 years. He was posted in a variety of places including Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver., British Columbia. He developed an interest in the history of the CPR and collected information about the railway for the remainder of his life. He and his wife Renee had four children.

Scope and content

The collection consists of copies of letters from William Van Horne to Henry J. Cambie (1884-1886); notebook of CPR Pacific Superintendent re operations in British Columbia (1886-1889); photographs of construction of Shuswap and Okanagan branch near Armstrong (1892-1910) and views of locomotives in Lethbridge and Kamloops (1885-1903).
