Biographical history

Alice Elizabeth Matheson, 1888-[after 1985], was born in Dundas, Prince Edward Island and trained as a teacher. She came to Alberta in 1910 and taught school in Calgary (at Mount Royal School and Haultain School), Wetaskiwin and Edmonton. She also worked in banks (Molsons Bank, Edmonton) until her marriage to William Peter Doyle in 1918. They farmed near Hoosier, Saskatchewan until 1945 when they retired to Calgary. They had seven children, Margaret, 1920- , Enid, 1921, Velma, 1924- , Corinne, 1926- , Wilfrid, 1928 -, Harvey, 1930, and Miriam, 1933- .

The fonds consists of her manuscripts: "Background and Ancestry of Alice Elizabeth (Matheson) Doyle", and her "Memoirs to date, Calgary, 1978".
