Biographical history

The Children's Hospital of Winnipeg was established in 1909 in order to attend to the needs of nursing sick children in the city. Originally situated on Beaconsfield Street, the hospital moved to Aberdeen Avenue in 1911, and finally to its current location on Bannatyne Avenue in 1956 with a new wing added in 1984. In 1973 Children's Hospital amalgamated with Winnipeg General Hospital and Manitoba Rehabilitation Hospital to create Health Sciences Centre.
