Biographical history

Anglican Homes, incorporated in 1961, operates King Edward Court in Vancouver, a home for senior citizens. The home was originally planned by the Diocesan Committee on Social Service and the project was presented to the 58th session of the Synod in 1959. It was found that the Provincial and Federal Governments would assist in construction of the first unit of such a plan, provided that the Anglican Church would raise an initial sum of $50,000. The Synod approved the recommendation of the Diocesan Council for Social Service and the Bishop set up a committee to start work as soon as possible on the project. King Edward Court opened in 1963. Anglican Homes currently reports to the Diocesan Synod, Programme Committee.
