Biographical history

Le premier diocèse dans l'Outaouais est le diocèse de Bytown dont l'érection remonte au 6 juin 1847. Il devient le diocèse d'Ottawa le 12 juin 1860, puis l'archidiocèse d'Ottawa le 8 juin 1886. C'est le 21 avril 1963 qu'est créé le diocèse de Hull, détaché de l'archidiocèse d'Ottawa; le diocèse de Hull devient le diocèse Gatineau-Hull le 21 avril 1963 pour enfin devenir l'archidiocèse de Gatineau-Hull le 31 octobre 1990
