Biographical history

Arthur Robb Milne was born 16 September 1884. An agricultural student from Point Clair Quebec he enlisted with the 1st University Company as Private #410955. He joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 28 July 1915. He rose in rank from Private to Lance Corporal and then to Lieutenant 18 October 1917. He received the Military Medal 6 January 1917. Struck Off Strength with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry 13 March 1918 and demobilized 25 September 1919. Returned to the Militia rising to the rank of Major.

The records were in the custody of J. Waller's wife who was the niece of Arthur Robb Milne.

The fonds contains 1 photograph of Major Arthur Robb Milne, 7 photographs of Princess Patricia inspecting the Regiment 21 February 1919, 2 trench maps, 3 Christmas cards, 1 postcard, 1 Memorial Service programme 15 November 1917, 6 original poems written by Milne, 2 newsclippings and some service records.

General note

The Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, as part of the Canadian Armed Forces falls under the command of the Department of National Defence. Under the direction of the Department of National Defence, the Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH) is mandated to safeguard and disseminate Canadian military history and heritage to meet departmental goals, provide meritorious service recognition, and reinforce Canadian Forces (CF) identity. On 1 September, 1996, The Directorate of History (DHist) and, The Directorate of Military Traditions and Heritage (DMTH) were amalgamated to form The Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH). The Canadian Forces (CF) Music Centre (CF Mus C) became a sub-unit of DHH on 1 April, 1997. The mission of the Directorate of History and Heritage (DHH) is to preserve and develop Canadian Forces history, heritage, traditions, military honours, museum and music systems. Official records and photographs are automatically transferred to the National Archives and the Directorate of History and Heritage. Serving and retired members often obtain copies of War Diaries, their service records and photographs and these items become part of their personal collections.<br><br>Record No. 98.14<br><br>
