Fonds Noël Vallerand

Ce fonds d'archives témoigne de l'ensemble de la carrière de Noël Vallerand comme professeur, vulgarisateur, chercheur, administrateur universitaire et haut-fonctionnaire. Tout d'abord, certains documents concernent sa jeunesse et ses études primaires et secondaires, entre autres au collège Brébeuf, comme de la correspondance avec sa famille, des manuels de classe, des travaux divers et des écrits dans le journal BRÉBEUF. D'autres documents concernent aussi ses études en histoire à l'Université de Montréal, dont des travaux de recherche et une thèse de maîtrise. Certains documents témoignent de la carrière d'enseignant et les cours qu'il a donnés, en particulier au collège Sainte-Marie parmi lesquels se retrouvent des dossiers de notes de cours en histoire du Québec, du Canada et des relations internationales. Puis, un autre ensemble documentaire rassemble des recherches, des écrits de scénarios de films et émissions de télévision, de même que des publications de manuels d'histoire de Noël Vallerand; manuscrits, contrats et droits d'édition. Par ailleurs, certains documents témoignent de ses responsabilités à l'Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) au niveau du secteur des arts, entre autres, vice-doyen intérimaire et membre de la Commission des études de l'UQAM: études de la situation, rapports préliminaires et rapports finaux. Un autre ensemble documentaire concerne plus particulièrement ses responsabilités comme vice-président à la planification de l'Université du Québec et ses fonctions comme sous-ministre et sous-ministre adjoint des Affaires culturelles: écrits et publications. Enfin, d'autres documents témoignent de son implication dans l'Orchestre symphonique de Québec, entre autres, comme directeur général (articles publiés dans la revue SONANCE), de même que ses activités et affaires à caractère personnel telles que son apprentissage de pilotage, le fonctionnement de son magasin de musique: carnets de vol et registre d'affaires de la boutique Le Mélomane. Les documents iconographiques contenus dans le fonds concernent un peu la vie personnelle de Vallerand, mais surtout rendent compte de ses activités professionnelles et de ses rencontres. Une part importante est constituée d'une documentation relative à l'histoire et aux arts recueillie par Vallerand

Fonds consists of the records created and compiled by Ina Dennekamp in connection with her work on the history of Canadian women composers. The bulk of the material was assembled between 1988 and 1992 either as part of a Canada Council Explorations Grant project entitled The History of Canadian Women Composers or as part of her weekly radio program Women of Note. Additional materials may relate to her role in the founding and administration of the BC Chapter of the Association of Canadian Women Composers (ACWC) and Women in Music (WIM). The fonds includes correspondence, notes, periodicals and other publications, course materials, interviews (transcripts and sound recordings), performance recordings, broadcast recordings, a collection of scores and sheet music, and a collection of commercial recordings.

The fonds consists of George's diaries (1935-1969), correspondence (1905-1971), ranching records, reminiscences, obituary, recorded speech and interview; Norma's diaries (1935-1940, 1970-1979), correspondence (1925-1978), musical career records (publicity, programs, recordings of her singing, etc.), reminiscences, her biography of George, and two recorded interviews; and the Pocaterra's financial records, tax returns, scrapbooks, and photographs and slides of Kananaskis, ranches, Italy, opera, and family members. Includes Dr. W.A. Piper's correspondence, speeches, oil company prospectuses and dentistry photographs.

The fonds consists of Frank's personal papers and business records regarding the Rosedale Coal Mine (including reports from a Pinkerton detective he hired to work undercover at the mine during a time of labour unrest, the Winnipeg General Strike, and the One Big Union) and Sentinel Oils; Marion's correspondence, poems and sheet music; a recorded interview with Norman Moodie about his father and his own career (1982); and extensive photographs of Moodie family, early nursing, the Rosedale Mine and the Drumheller area.
