Biographical history
Bjorn H. Svendsen was a stampeder who went to Dawson City, Yukon about 1897 and stayed in the region until around 1908. He worked as a blacksmith and had his own shop at 29 Gold Run. Svendsen also mined claims 29 and 43 Gold Run, acted as an agent/distributor for a mining self-dumping system (a cableway conveyor) developed by Bernard Estby, and as a hobby took photographs.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of papers copied from original documents belonging to Bjorn H. Svendsen. Included are photocopies of photographs taken by Svendsen; a time book kept for the employees on Claim 29 Gold Run, 1899-1905; a notebook with figures, notes and supply lists, kept by Svendsen; an account/notebook with expenses and supplies for 29 Gold Run; and miscellaneous papers including a plan for the Estby mining self-dumping system.
