Botwood Heritage Society
The Archives began about as a natural outgrowth of the collection and research done by the Botwood Heritage Society and the Botwood Library Board. Formally established in 1989, the Archives continue to accept material from local and former residents of Botwood.
The Archives contains manuscripts, photographs, film, audio and videotapes, and artifacts relating to the town of Botwood, its history and culture. Highlights include an extensive collection of military and early aviation photographs, including Sidney Cotten, Charles Lindbergh and the first trans Atlantic air passenger service.
Finding aids are available for some holdings previously arranged and described. A database is available at the Botwood Library. The Heritage Society has also published Botwood: History of a Seaport (1992).
The Archives is open by request. Researchers are asked to make an appointment to visit; however, researchers may have access to the database containing archival information at the Botwood Library.
Archival material must be used on-site.
Photocopying and photograph reproduction are available for a fee.
