Biographical history

The BC Assessment sub-office was opened in Prince Rupert in 1975 after the provincial government passed the Assessment Authority Act in 1974. Previous to the act, by 1911, assessment services were conducted by the provincial government with an assessor stationed in Prince Rupert. In 2002, owing to the reorganization of government services by the Liberals, the province closed its office in Prince Rupert and opened a regional office in Prince George with three northern branches in Terrace, Dawson Creek, and Prince George.
