This fonds consists of records that document the administrative and operational activities of IBEW Local 625. As the union which represents inside electrical workers across mainland Nova Scotia, Local 625 engages in a variety of activities which are represented in this fonds; these include employer negotiation, grievance administration, dues remittance, pension fund administration, labour advocacy, workers' training and education, strike coordination, recreational events, and membership advocacy. The records in this fonds were created by the union's office staff, business managers, executive board, elected officials, Board of Trustees, membership, and business associates.

Item is a ledger of A.P. Shand. The ledger contains a list of shares purchased in sailing vessels and shares in local companies. The ledger also records dividends received from his investments (1873-1893) and contains a list of assests (1883-1893).

James Benjamin Westhaver fonds

Fonds includes items dealing with the invention of and patenting of a hydraulic gold extractor first registered in 1887. Also involves setting up a company to use the machine and begin gold mining. The material covers a period of 1883 to 1905, and involves many individuals in the business and legal community of Halifax and the South Shore. It also includes the original patent with the specification and diagrams, other diagrams, a 31 page hand written report by Westhaver on his trip to Dawson City, Yukon in 1902 to test his separator. A very interesting collection of letters, documents, legal correspondence, governmental material, etc., etc., dealing with the starting of a company to use the gold separate and Westhaver's various difficulties with financing and control.

James E. Dickie and Company fonds

This fonds consists of documents illustrating the diverse interests of James Edward Dickie and his family. While nearly all of the records date from the ownership of the Stewiacke general store by James E. Dickie and his son Edwin, the fonds does contain one letter-book from 1924, when James R. Fulton managed the store.

This fonds consists of documents which fall into three main categories: business records related to the companies owned by the Dickies; correspondence which contains a mixture of both personal and business records; as well as the personal records of the Dickie family.

The fonds contains the following series: General Store (J.E. Dickie and Company; J.E. Dickie and Son; Edwin Dickie); Lumber Company (Dickie and Company); Nova Scotia Telephone Company; Stewiacke Valley and Lansdowne Railroad; Letters and Communications; James Edward Dickie; Harriet Tupper (Mrs. James E. Dickie); Edwin Dickie; Rev. Dr. Henry Dickie; and Rachel Dickie (Upham? – lodger in 1901 census).

Materials include three volumes of ledgers (1880-1904), bills of lading (1886-1898), correspondence (1884, 1896-1897, 1891, 1915, 1922), mail contracts (1870-1871, 1881, 1883-1885), lists of voters (1890-1892, 1898, 1899), and engravings of furniture by Glendyer Mills (1875-1877).
