Biographical history
Claire Spence Downing was an amateur photographer and a successful West Vancouver businessman in the plumbing supplies wholesale trade. In 1946, Downing was elected the first chairman of the Metropolitan Parks Planning Board. He was a noted amateur photographer whose works chronicle the early history of the North Shore.
