Biographical history
The Nanaimo branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women was established in 1945 as a member of the International Federation of University Women. The mandate of the club wa threefold: 1) to promote the higher education of women through locally funded scholarships; 2) to improve the status of women and 3) to support community social needs. The first executive included Mrs. Marjorie Neave (President), Jean Fannin (Vice-President) and Alice Kelley (Secretary-Treasurer). Gwen Foerster was instrumental in forming the club. As the years passed, the structure of the club evolved. Standing committees were set-up as the membership increased and included program, hospitality, membership, publicity, scholarship and special interest groups.

Fonds consists of the records of the Nanaimo branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women.
