The Canadian Mine Workers separated from the United Steel Workers in 1972 as a result of a jurisdictional dispute between the international union and the workers at the Clinton Creek asbestos mine. Function: The Canadian Mine Workers Union represented workers at the Clinton Creek asbestos mine from 1972 to 1978.
