Biographical history
The Capital Regional District Water Quality Division is part of the Water Department, which was established on August 1, 1997 when the Greater Victoria Water District Act was repealed and responsibility for regional water supply was transferred to the Capital Regional District. The mandate of CRD Water Quality Division is to maintain an ongoing water quality programme of raw water supply and large distribution mains by ensuring the water supply is compliant with regulatory standards, and by designing mitigation measures if non-compliant.

The fonds consists of 2 series of monitoring data: Greater Victoria Water District reports prepared by the UVic Biology Department, UVic Studies 910402 - 950131 (1967-94); and phytoplankton count sheets obtained from CRD aquatic habitats and analysed by UVic Biology Department (1967-92).
