Biographical history

Carroll Cawley is the daughter of Helen and Orval Couch. Her brother and sister are Leslie Couch and Marjorie Copp. Her daughter is Frances Taylor. Carroll attended the Swift River School from grade 3 to grade 8.

Custodial history

Helen Couch passed the originals to her daughter Carroll Cawley, who loaned them to Mrs. Almstrom for her book on education in the Yukon. With Carroll Cawley's permission Mrs. Almstrom brought PMT copies to the Yukon Archives for copying in 1988.

Scope and content

The collection consists of two prints of photographs of the Swift River School, ca. 1947 and 1950. Pupils and teachers are posing inside and outside of the school. Pupils include Carroll and her brother Leslie Couch, Billy Blair, Janice Talbot, Matthew Tom, Don Steel, Dale Simpson, Joanne and Roberta Stevenson, Ben and Connie Stady, with teacher Rod McNiven. Individuals were identified on the back of the original photographs. This information has been photocopied onto pages held with the photographs.
