Records management and collecting policies

The City of Victoria Archives and Records Division is the official repository for all inactive civic records of permanent value to the City of Victoria. Private or non-governmental records which document the history and development of the city are also retained by the Archives. The private records relate to business, organizations and individuals of Greater Victoria and include several large fonds such as the Commonwealth Games fonds and the W & J Wilson fonds. The Archives also possesses an extensive photographic and map collection, a large set of city directories, genealogical information sources and a small reference library. The Archives also administers the Records Management program of the City of Victoria.
