Biographical history

The Colchester Historical Museum and Archives was opened in 1976 by the Colchester County Historical Society, a group which was formed in 1954. The institution is located in the former science building of the Provincial Normal College at Truro, Nova Scotia. The Museum and Archives was founded to collect, preserve and display original records, artifacts and information related to the history of Colchester County. The Museum employs one full time curator and one full time archivist and continues to be adminstered by the Society.
