Benoît-Beaudry Gourd naît à Amos en 1949. Il détient une maîtrise en histoire de l'Université d'Ottawa. Producteur et concepteur pour différentes séries télévisées et radiophoniques, il est aussi l'auteur de nombreux ouvrages sur l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue

Scope and content
La collection comprend différents dossiers de documentation sur l'histoire régionale tels que la forêt, les mines, la colonisation, etc. On y retrouve également l'original de "Itinéraire toponymique de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue" écrit par Benoît-Beaudry Gourd, 20 000 fiches ayant servi à la rédaction de la "Bibliographie de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue", un album contenant des lettres ainsi que différents articles de journaux sur David Gourd, député libéral du comté fédéral de Chapleau de 1945 à 1957, ainsi qu'une entrevue sur bande magnétique sur le 30ième anniversaire de Radio-Nord
