Biographical history

At a meeting of the Diocesan Board of Missions held in the Synod office on October 8th., 1953 it was resolved that a special committee be formed to arrange for the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of New Westminster. This committee consisted of one clerical member and one lay member from each Deanery. Shortly after, when it became obvious that such a large committee, as suggested, would be difficult to convene, it was decided to appoint a smaller and more centralized committee. A Special Committee was constituted. The Committee organized the following outstanding events: a Children's Service at the Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver; a Clergy Luncheon and Pilgrimage to graves of Bishop Sillitoe and others; a Laymen's dinner; and a Service of Witness. This Service took place at the Queens Park Arena, in New Westminster, in the presence of the Rt. Hon. Geoffrey Fisher, Archbishop of Canterbury.
