The fonds consists of Schroeder's literary manuscripts, radio plays, filmscripts, manuscripts by others, personal correspondence, financial records, and printed material which chronicle his development and contributions as a writer, journalist, broadcaster, editor, translator, and literary/cultural activist. Included among the subjects documented in the papers are: Schroeder's published and unpublished fiction and nonfiction works, including short prose, novellas, poems, translations, a prison memoir, literary columns, and feature articles; production of documentaries for the CBC radio show "Ideas"; publication of the literary magazine of translation "Contemporary Literature in Translation"; the author's nine-month prison sojurn; the founding of the League of Canadian Poets and the Writers' Union of Canada; and, the establishment of the Public Lending Rights Commission of Canada.

Also includes issues of Owen Sound Sun, Women's Patriotic edition (1916 April 1), which lists Grey County, Ont., enlisted men; Chicago Herald Examiner, Canadian edition (1927 November 20), which discusses proposed amendments to the Canadian Constitution; and CIPAC (Copyrights, Inventions and Patents Association of Canada) (1975 October and 1976 February), for which A. Koyich was contributing editor.

The fonds consists of various cuts of ten films created by filmmaker Anne Wheeler beginning with her first solo project, the short film Great Grand Mother (1975) and continuing until her 1990 feature film Angel Square. Though a finding aid has not yet been created, series would likely be created for each film included in the collection. Series would include director's copies of Great Grandmother (1975); Happily Unmarried (1977); Augusta (1978); Teach Me to Dance (1978); A War Story (1981); and Change of Heart (1984). More comprehensive series would be created for Loyalties (1984); Cowboys Don't Cry (1988); Angel Square (1989) and Bye Bye Blues (1990). The fonds also includes soundtracks and videocassettes for Bye Bye Blues

The fonds consists of records relating to his career as a journalist and to his family life in Victoria. It has been arranged in two series, Autobiography and Writing. The Autobiography series consists of Archies autobiographical works, which document his service in World War I and his family life and career. It has been arranged into three sub-series: All in A Lifetime, My Life in the Army, and Travel. The Writing series consists of his published and unpublished work, and background material for it. The series shows his interest in making new generations of Victoria residents aware of their citys history and aware of World War I history. It has been arranged into two sub-series: Articles and Stories, and Broadcasts. Records include typed manuscripts, clippings of Archies published articles, photographs including photograph albums, diaries, scrapbooks, war medals, and ephemera.
