The fonds includes correspondence covering the years 1962-1978; scrapbooks containing clippings, correspondence and photographs (1926-1973); manuscripts for a number of Bird's published and unpublished works-including novels, stories and articles (undated); hardcover novels, fiction and non-fiction published in magazines, journals and newspapers (1928-1975); and miscellaneous documents including reviews, articles about Bird and royalty information (1935-1976).

Fonds consists of correspondence with the Canadian Medical Association and its professional journal. Other contents include manuscripts of papers and addresses in addition to original copies of publications by Dr. Hattie. Fonds also contains several obituaries from different sources as well as a letter from Sec. Graduates of McGill University H.C. Pruell, (dated March 10, 1897) and a letter from Sir J.W. Dawson (dated March 20, 1897).

William Inglis Morse Manuscript Collection

The collection assembled by William Morse reflected his research interests and his ideas on what works should be available for consultation by serious scholars. The exploration and early settlement of Acadia, the history of the Maritimes, the evolution of printing, the book arts, important classics in both the humanities and the sciences, the works of Bliss Carman and George Santayana, works about General James Wolfe, and Norse legends are the major research fields represented in the collection.

William Jarvis McCurdy fonds

Fonds consists primarily of correspondence and records pertaining to the Dalhousie Class of 1926 and William Jarvis McCurdy. Financial records include class contributions and invoice payments; correspondence includes letters exchanged between McCurdy and various classmates, letters to Elinor Barnstead and a letter from Elinor Barnstead to Wilfrid Creighton.

McCurdy's personal records include a newspaper announcement of his 1929 engagement to Avis Marshall, his 1931 doctoral thesis from Harvard University, and the memorial service program of his death in 1988.

William Stanley Croft fonds

Fonds comprises two letters written to William Croft. The first refers to work in the gold mines, while the second is a request for Croft's permission to allow his sixteen-year-old son to go overseas with the Canadian Forces. There is also a note from James Heyson to John Croft containing a medicinal recipe.

The Archives of the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia consists of records created by the administration, members, and affiliates of the Federation. It includes a wide variety of materials including administrative records, audio/visual material, correspondence, financial records, meeting agendas and minutes for a variety of groups and committees, photographs, promotional and press material. The records refer to the adminstration and functions of the Federation, as well as its relationships with its members, government departments, and other writing, publishing and cultural groups.
