Bigelow family fonds

Fonds contains the personal and professional records of four generations of the Bigelow family of Nova Scotia. It includes correspondence, legal and financial documents, diaries and memoirs, and photographs that document primarily the family's shipbuilding activities as well as the genealogical interests of John Robert Bigelow.

Fonds consists of Brian Flemming’s personal and professional papers which reflect his career as a regional and national political figure. The fonds contains both political and personal correspondence, including records created while Flemming worked in the Prime Minister’s Office, and correspondence with prominent Canadians such as Senator Michael Kirby, Paul Tellier, and Peter Bronfman.

The fonds also includes miscellaneous publications, speeches, political material, records of his work on behalf of various organisations, records related to his own business activity, and records related to maritime law and the law of the sea.

Canada-China Friendship Association fonds

This fonds consists of records related to the governance of the association, meeting minutes, the activities of the various committees and sub-committees, membership lists, newsletters, and correspondence. It also includes program materials the CCFA used to promote knowledge and awareness about China; documents regarding the Communist Party of China; reference materials; a large collection of slides, primarily of two trips the association organized, one to China in 1975 and one to Asia in 1977; audiocassettes; and materials related to the lecture “How China Feeds 800 Million People” which includes a slide show, audiocassette, and transcription.

Fonds consists of papers created and/or accumulated by Catherine Creighton and her family, including those of her husband Graham and children Edith, Anna, Lois, Frieda, and Howard. While the fonds includes correspondence from Wilfred Creighton to his siblings and parents, Wilfred's papers are not included as a sous-fonds within the fonds.

The bulk of the fonds consists of correspondence from family and friends, but also includes diaries, photographs, financial papers, personal papers, memorabilia, print materials, scrapbooks, articles, and artwork. Records in the fonds provide a well-rounded depiction of the family's daily activities and lives - from their relationships with each other, their extended family, and their community, to their financial status, values, education, and careers.
