David Warren Ryder, 1892-1975, was a prominent San Francisco author, journalist, historian and publicist. He wrote a series of books on Social Credit in the 1930s. Southam newspapers in Canada, including the Calgary Herald, published several articles he wrote on the movement.

The fonds consists of letters written by the editor of the Ottawa Citizen regarding the arrangements made with Ryder to publish his Social Credit articles.

These letters were acquired by dealer Cameron Treleaven of Aquila Books in Calgary in the 2000s.
A collection of Ryder records is held by the University of Toledo Archives.
