Notice biographique
The Delta Heritage Advisory Committee is an organization responsible for advising the Delta Council on matters relating to the preservation of Delta's heritage buildings, structures, and land. The Committee was established in July of 1977 (through bylaw 2669). The Committee is an autonomous body serving in an advisory capacity, its three primary objectives being: the protection and preservation of important buildings in Delta; the preservation and enhancement of culturally significant neighbourhoods or communities; and the encouragement of tourism through developing and enhancing community character. In its work to meet these objectives, the Committee makes recommendations to Council regarding the designation of heritage sites, and the action to be taken on those sites, suich as demolition, preservation, alteration, or renovation. The Committee consists of four members, which are appointed by the Delta Council. The first four members of the Committee were: architect Brian Hart (Chairman), Alderman Karl Moser, Bert Smith, and Frank Heminsky.
