Scope and content
The fonds consists of records created or collected by Dr. Heymann in the course of his varied careers as journalist, historian, and writer. The records include personal correspondence, registration papers and letters of transit during his time as editor before the war, and from his stint as a war correspondent. The records also include drafts and final copies of his scholarly writing, presentations at conferences and symposia, and notes taking during his historical research. The fonds is arranged into two series: (1) Personal Papers; and (2) Scholarly Activity.

Immediate source of acquisition
The majority of the records were in the custody of Dr. Heymann’s second wife, Dr. Lili Rabel-Heymann who donated them to the University Archives in 1980. A small accrual was received in 2001 from his son, Frank Heymann.
Arrangement
For the most part, records were found in file folders with the exception of many of the personal records which were found loose. The majority of these have been placed together in one folder. No obvious order was apparent within or between the records so order has been imposed by the arranging archivist in chronological sequence. Where no file titles were apparent, these have been created according to the content of the records.
