Biographical history

The Ebenezer Women's Institute was organized in 1925 in Ebenezer, Prince Edward Island. Very little information is available about the early members or their activities as the Institute's early records were lost in a fire. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Ebenezer WI met on a monthly basis in the homes of the various members. Meetings typically included discussions about fundraising activities, reports from committees, talks by members or guest speakers on a variety of topics, and a lunch provided by members. The group played an active role in the local and wider Island communty, including knitting and donating baby blankets to the Red Cross, donating money and needed supplies to Anderson House (a shelter for abused women and children) in Charlottetown, and donating money to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown. The Ebenezer Women's Institute remains an active organization.
