This fonds contains personal correspondence between William Brydone Jack and his wives, Marian Ellen Peters and Caroline Disbrowe. In letters to Marian Jack mentions his astronomical work with Drs. J.B. Toldervy and James Robb. Also included are newspaper clippings and a sketchbook belonging to Blanche Jack, Dr. William Brydone Jack's daughter.

The fonds consists of records created and collected by Harry B. Hawthorn in a number of different capacities: as researcher, professor, Dean of Anthropology and Director of the Museum of Anthropology. Textual records in the fonds include correspondence, transcripts, research notes and clippings from publications. Much of the graphic materials relate to Harry Hawthorn’s interactions with aboriginal communities as an anthropologist, a professor, and as the Director of MOA. Other images relate to his personal life, documenting his youth in New Zealand, his life as a father and anthropologist, and his later established professional roles.

Fonds consists of the working papers of Professor Seary for his 1976 publication Family Names of the Island of Newfoundland. It includes an index of family names and information about different spellings of surnames, geographic distribution of surnames and particular information about persons with specific surnames culled from selected historical documents.

The fonds also includes correspondence, clippings about surnames, folklore survey cards pertaining to Newfoundland surnames, newspaper clippings about Seary's research and other subjects, correspondence between Seary and various individuals about family names and other academic subjects.

Fonds consists primarily of material collected for Coldwell's doctoral thesis, Treasure Stories and Beliefs in Atlantic Canada, and pertains to folk narrative about folksong and treasure: bibliographic information pertaining to publications on treasure handwritten on index cards; miscellaneous clippings and photocopies of published articles on various subjects such as folksongs, pirates and treasures; miscellaneous notes on folksongs, legends, pirates and treasures; bibliographical information and notes on the folksong Barbara Allen; six hundred index cards containing information about treasures, arranged by motif number; four hundred index cards containing photocopied clippings of treasure stories, with references; several drafts of her doctoral thesis with notes; Coldwell manuscripts entitled Pirate Songs, Internal and External Assessments of a Culture: The Blaskets, Treasure and the Folktale, Folksong Theory in the Twentieth Century, Folklore as Fiction: the Writings of L.M. Strait of Belle Isle population data collection

Collection consists of research data for Patricia Thornton's doctoral thesis, entitled "Dynamic Equilibrium: Settlement, Population and Ecology in the Strait of Belle Isle, Newfoundland, 1840-1940", (University of Aberdeen, 1979).

Collection includes 13 boxes of index cards, recording information on residents of 48 communities on each shore of the Strait of Belle Isle from 1848 until 1949. Boxes 1 and 3-11 contains the cards recording birth, marriage and deaths, arranged in alphabetical order. Boxes 2 and 13 contain marriage recall cards, which allow linkage between family groups, and additional data sheets.

Flewelling Scholarships for Vocational Research," (11 pp.) It includes a discussion of E. L. Flewelling's educational philosophy.
