Custodial history

The records contained in the fonds were donated to the Argyle Township Court House Archives in October 1989 by Susan, Cathy and Christopher Young in the memory of their parents, the late John and Phyllis W. (Hatfield) Young of Tusket, who were the most recent owners of the building which housed the Hatfield General Store.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of one Day Book, 1881-1904, which contains both Elmer Hatfield General Store records and Hatfield General Store records; five day books, 1891-1906; one order book, 1905-1906; and one Accounts Receivable Ledger, 1891-1931. A Cash Journal created by Daniel W. Armstrong, 1952-1958 is also contained in the fonds. Tracy G. Hatfield also ran another general store and records of both store often overlap.
