Biographical history

R. Fern Langemann, 1937-2011, was born in Coaldale, Alberta. She trained as a teacher at the University of Calgary and Simon Fraser University and taught in several Calgary schools as well as in curriculum planning for the School Board. She was also an accomplished landscape artist who lived and painted in many parts of the world, including Botswana, Central America, and Australia. Langemann was a member of a loosely organized paint group called Visual Edge. She and her husband Ralph Ernest Langemann, 1936- , were married in 1957 and had two children, Elisabeth Gwyn Langemann, 1958- , who married Gerald Conaty, and Yvonne Fern, 1959- . Ralph taught geography and commercial aviation at Mount Royal College.
