M. Champlain Marcil, photographe professionnel de 1945 à 1985, a été employé du quotidien "Le Droit" de 1950 à 1970. Il s'est éteint le 2 avril 2010 à Ottawa à l'âge de 89 ans. Les obsèques ont lieu le 9 avril 2010 en l'église Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, à Vanier

Scope and content

Le fonds illustre les événements politiques, sociaux, culturels, religieux, sportifs et mondains qui ont fait l'actualité dans l'Outaouais québécois et ontarien, principalement de 1945 à 1980. Le fonds est divisé en six séries correspondant aux activités documentées. La première série, la plus importante, porte sur la carrière de Champlain Marcil comme photographe professionnel, notamment sa collaboration au quotidien Le Droit d'Ottawa (1954-1985); la seconde série documente le Congrès Eucharistique de Trois-Rivières (1940); la troisième série couvre le Congrès Marial d'Ottawa (1947); la quatrième série, intitulée Diocèse d'Ottawa, illustre l'architecture religieuse du Diocèse et a servi à la publication d'un livre sur le Diocèse d'Ottawa (1947); la cinquième série porte sur le 35e anniversaire du journal Le Droit (Ottawa, 1948); enfin, la sixième série comprend des photographies effectuées pour le quotidien "Le Droit" alors que Champlain Marcil était pigiste (1947-1953)
