Biographical history
Georges-Hilaire Gagnon est né le 21 octobre 1868 à Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-l'Anse-Saint-Jean. Il est le fils de René Gagnon, marchand et d'Elmire Boudreault. Il fait ses études classiques au Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi, de 1885 à 1891, et ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire du même endroit, de 1891 à 1895. Il est ordonné prêtre le 12 mai 1895. Il est décédé le 3 janvier 1929, alors qu'il était curé de la paroisse de Saint-André-du-Lac-Saint-Jean. Le fonds a été acquis par la Société historique du Saguenay, mais nous n'avons pu obtenir aucune information adéquate sur sa provenance et sur le moment de son acquisition. Il a été prêté au centre des Archives nationales du Québec du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean de 1979 à 2012, date à laquelle la Société historique du Saguenay a repris possession de ce fonds
