Biographical history
Né à Macamic, comté d'Abitibi-Ouest, le 7 décembre 1911, Joseph Hermann Bolduc est le fils d'Arthur Bolduc et de Marie-Anne Roy. Il s'établit à Rouyn-Noranda, en 1935, après avoir suivi un cours de photographie par correspondance. Son premier studio est situé à Noranda, il déménage en 1945 sur l'avenue Principale à Rouyn et y exploite son studio à cet endroit jusqu'en 1979, année où il se retire du milieu des affaires. Il épouse Gratia de la Chevrotière le 16 avril 1956. Il décède à Rouyn-Noranda en 1990

En 1984, la Corporation de la Maison Dumulon se porte acquéreur du fonds de photographies de monsieur Joseph Hermann Bolduc. Les Archives nationales du Québec l'achètent en 1985
Scope and content
Ce fonds se compose de photographies prises en studio, mais aussi de documents photographiques illustrant la vie sociale, culturelle, éducative, administrative et commerciale de Rouyn-Noranda. À partir de 1947, monsieur Joseph Hermann Bolduc offre à la population de la région un service de photographies panoramiques : anniversaires de paroisses, bénédictions de ponts, ordinations de prêtres, grands rassemblements; permettant ainsi à monsieur Bolduc de photographier les gens des quatre coins de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue
