Biographical history
Méron tremblay est né le 15 avril 1830 aux Éboulements, où il passe toute sa jeunesse. À l'école, il réussit très bien. Sa performance scolaire en français lui permet d'obtenir un brevet d'instituteur. C'est à 17 ans qu'il commence à enseigner à Saint-Irénée. En 1856, il déménage à Chicoutimi et ouvre son commerce, situé au coin des rues Sainte-Anne et Racine. Il y travaille jusqu'à sa mort. De 1878 à 1881, Méron Tremblay est maire du village de Chicoutimi. Il est décédé à Chicoutimi à l'âge de 70 ans
Custodial history
Le fonds a été donné à la Société historique du Saguenay par Mme Émilie Tremblay, fille de Méron Tremblay, le 22 décembre 1935. Il a été prêté au centre des Archives nationales du Québec du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean de 1979 à 2012, date à laquelle la Société historique du Saguenay a repris possession de ce fonds

Le fonds est constitué de deux livres de comptes (1873 à 1890); de factures (1860 à 1889) ainsi qu'une correspondance d'affaires (1873 à 1889) et personnelle (1877-1879)
