Biographical history

Young Hing Fong, 1886-1953, was born in Guangdong Province, China. He emigrated to Canada in ca. 1905. In 1921 he married Mabel Yew Lee of Ashcroft, British Columbia and they moved to Arcola, Saskatchewan to run a restaurant. They had three children: Harold, 1924-1992 (a professional photographer), Joyce Norton, ?- , and George, 1926- (a professional geologist). In 1927, Young, together with his brothers Ben Fong and George King Fong, purchased and operated the Paris Café (later called the Plaza Café) in Red Deer, Alberta.
