Biographical history
Fort Vancouver was a substantial Hudson's Bay Company fort established on the Columbia River in 1824-1825. Once the international boundary was established in 1846, the Fort was in American territory and was ultimately abandoned in 1860.

The fonds consists of accounts, correspondence, fur returns, register of marriage licences and letterbook of Fort Vancouver. Includes private correspondence of James Douglas, 1866-1877. [Some records available on microfilm.]
