Biographical history

G. Douglas Murray, a native Prince Edward Islander, received his early education in Pictou and Truro, Nova Scotia and attended Dalhousie University. Mr. Murray graduated with an architectural degree from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in Halifax in 1968 and was employed with the Prince Edward Island government for over 20 years. Mr. Murray is an avid collector of postcards and postmarks and has written several articles on the postal history of Prince Edward Island which have been published in "BNA Topics"and "The Postal History Society of Ontario Journal", and in 1990 published a book entitled "The Post Office on Prince Edward Island (1787-1990)".

Scope and content

This collection consists of 17 photographs which include the following subjects: ships and harbours, including the schooner "Ledee Adele", and the steamship "Bonavista"; the Bayview Hotel; groups of individuals; portraits; and a group assembled near an airplane prior to its flight to Truro, Nova Scotia in 1919.
