Biographical history

Né en 1617, Gilbert Barbier dit LeMinime et le NiVernais est le fils de Pierre Barbier et de Claude Vizon, originaires de France. Pionnier de Ville-Marie et maître charpentier, il reçoit sa commission d'arpenteur en 1679. Il épouse, à Notre-Dame-de-Montréal, le 14 novembre 1650, Catherine Delavaux, fille d'Alexandre Delavaux et de Louise de Renel, originaires de France. De cette union, naissent huit enfants. Il meurt à la Pointe-aux-Trembles le 15 novembre 1693 à l'âge de 76 ans
