Biographical history

Gordon Bertram was born in Vancouver in 1924, received a BA from UBC and a PhD from the University of California (Berkeley). He was appointed as professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Victoria in 1966. Previously, he was a consultant to the Economic Council of Canada, and taught at the University of Washington. He was a noted Canadian economist who specialized in the study of Canadian industry, manufacturing, and labour.
