The Griffin Gold Mining Company Ltd. was organized at the office of F.H. Bell in Halifax, N.S. on 3 April 1895. P.J. Griffin was the chair, H.G. Bould the treasurer and F.H. Bell the secretary. The company resolved to purchase a mining area near East Stormont, Isaacs Harbour, held by Griffin and Bould.
