History

Wellington J. Harris arrived in Pitt Meadows in 1873 with his wife Mary Jane. Mary Jane Harris established the first Sunday School in the area and she campaigned for the Women's Institute in 1921. She also acted as a midwife until a doctor arrived in Pitt Meadows. Frank V. harris, son of Wellington J. and Mary Jane Harris, served on the municipal council and school board for Pitt Meadows.
