Biographical history

Harry Edgar was born on 9 Oct 1917 in Hazelton to Mark and Lillian (Jones) Edgar of Port Simpson. He and his family arrived in Prince Rupert at the age of 6 months. During his working career he was employed at Shenton's Sheet Metal and worked on the sheet metal roof of the legislative buildings in Victoria. He loved to hike and ski, and was described as an avid outdoorsman. Harry passed away in Victoria on 16 April 2002.

Custodial history

The photographs were donated to the archives by Harry's niece Barbara Sheppard on 4 Oct 2002 and 18 June 2008.

Scope and content

The collection consists of photographs taken by Harry Edgar, primarily of ski activities in the Prince Rupert area. These include a group of skiers outside Blain's cabin on Mount Oldfield, one photograph taken inside a cafe depicting a man in uniform, four people on a train, and one negative of the fountain at CN Park. People identified in the photographs are Harry Edgar, Louie Astoria, Ned McLeod, Munthe Haroldsen, Swede Morse, and Duncan MacRae.
