Egyptian Diary

Item is a partial diary of an unknown woman travelling in Egypt, likely in 1859. The writer travelled along the Nile river to Dendera, Philae, Aswan, Edfu (which she spells 'Edfoo'), Thebes and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, Saqqara, Memphis, Cairo, and Alexandria. The diary gives quite detailed notes regarding the sights the author saw and her experiences while travelling. The writer was probably travelling with family, as she mentions her Uncle being there with her. A Mr. F. is mentioned as well along with a Mr. Taylor who was supposed to preach in one of the temple ruins. Also mentioned is Knox College, where the author intended to donate antiquities she acquired in Egypt.
