The records relate to: provision of financial support to individuals and organizations in the individuals and groups in the literary, film, performing, and visual arts; provision of a variety of workshops, training, exposure and promotional programs in support of individuals and groups in the literary, film, performing and visual arts; administration of the Archeological Survey of Alberta; provision of financial support to municipal libraries and library associations; planning, creation and delivery of programs to support cultural heritage groups and events; creation and administration of cultural facilities; film classification; planning, creation and operation of historic sites; oversight of the Provincial Archives of Alberta; oversight of the Provincial Museum of Alberta; operation of the Northern and Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditoria; development of parks and recreational facilities; creation and delivery of recreation development programs; operation of the Reynolds Alberta Museum; operation of the Royal Tyrrell Museum; delivery of programs supporting the development of senior citizens' residential facilities; and planning and delivery of programs to promote the welfare of women in Alberta. The fonds includes correspondence, a variety of grant case files, minutes and agendas of branch, division, departmental, interdepartmental and intergovernmental committees, reports, financial records, contracts, action requests, orders and directives, ledgers, promotional materials, briefing books, agreements, brochures, newsletters, news releases, press clippings, and a variety of audio and video materials. The fonds also includes the records of the Alberta Human Rights Commission, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation, the Alberta Multiculturalism Commission and the Alberta Government House Foundation.
